Great work both of you.I'm also quite an avid angler but only get serious since 1995. I've been to Sembilan Island, Pangkor Island .Had several successes but, the last time we went there, it was quite a failure due to the execesive net fishing by the traw ers. I hope the Govt. could do something about it. Maybe, If they lack of the manpower, they could resort to sink the tukun(FAD)especially the concrete will deter the net trawler. For those guy who wish to go to the Sembilan islands, you can rent the boar from jeti Sg Burong, Bagan Datoh ( the tekong will arrange to bring the umpan, normally the udang putih for the queenfish ( talang).Do bring some fresh kembong if you wish to go for barracuda (go for balloon rig/trolling.Squid is the best umpan at the is and. If you could arrang with the tekong to go during dark moon, you might get lucky to catch live squid. it will be grat for Ang choh and other demersal fish. You can also board the boat from Telok Muroh, Lumut or Pangkor island. I used to board from Tel k Muroh using Abang Meor's boat. The tekong, Man is great on trolling especially at the Sembilan Island and Pangkor, it available, try to arrange for bilis bait. However, to book for abang Meor boat, normally you have to call at least 3 week in advance to ensure that it is available. I would recommend also apart from Pulau Aur and Pemanggil in the SOuth (Johor), why dont you guys try the Pulau Sibu, Pulau Tinggi and neighbouring island. Try to look for the tekong at the Mersing Jetty. Did you that for the ast three month, it have been siakap month at Bagan Lalang, Selangor, even the Mamod Kelong biggest catch is 10 kilo over. Check it out gang. Do bring you handline of 100 pound it you're fishing at the kelong. To Chris and Jeff, Keep up the good work for he benefit of all.

I am a Malaysian now living in Adelaide Australia.I do alot of about 200km from Adelaide. Normally I tow my boat to the destination and launch my boat there. In Jaunuary I travel to a place called Pt Lincoln and chase tuna(Bluefin) in the bay. We have so anded about 7 fish. I also chase yellowtail kingfish but have not been able to land one as yet. Sometimes in winter i head up the murray river and chase carp on fly. You should try it, its fun on 6wt gear. I also do alot of salt water fly fishing and have landed on tuna on 10 wt fly at 20kg on 8kg tippet. Have fun and good fishing.

Hey guys, Like your article about ultralight fishing so much that I went right into it. I now have a one piece ugly stik and one shimano AX ULS and a surecatch ultralight reel. Can you recommend me a really good but reasonable priced ultralight reel ... my shimano' great, but it still not too great and the surecatch is small but not sensitive enough to use with #2 line. Also, both tends to screw up the lines after a while.

I'm very happy that there are quite a number of local websites on angling. I'm strictly amateur and I only go fishing when time and opportunity permit. If this is not a big favour, I would like to suggest that there be a section for beginners on fishing especially for children nd youths. There should (If I may suggest again) graphics and pictures on common knots, rigs and float usage. There are several books about fishing., I'm sure, but their prices are way beyond the affordability range of these groups who often rely on shared printed materials downloaded from a friend's internet. Great site for beginners like me. Have to admit that i read your article on spinnerbaits about 7 times....but haven't had any fish on it yet though been trying very hard to land one with spinnerbaits. Your info on local fish is superb, one of its kind, at least now i know a little about the fishes here locally. would really love to get some tips on lure fishing coz i have not been very successful...except for the two pint sized haruans that i landed after dozens of trips to the nearby mining pools. pls for ard some tips on haruans if its not too much trouble....i dunno why i have the hots for haruans. keep up the good work guys.....Regards!!

Hi Chris, Just want to comment about your local fish list. Tengas,Tengas Daun and Kejor are from the same genus but not from the same species. Also for Tenggalan .. you put a.k.a Temelian..actually Temelian is a.k.a as Temoleh second rank after kelah. But you done a great job here. Very nice page with a lot of information. I have enjoyed looking at this site. Much different than the US. I fish mostly for snook, spotted seatrout, red drum, cobia, flounder, tarpon, grouper, sea bass, Spanish mackeral, and mangrove snapper. Also catch many other species. I guide here in Terra Ceia, Florida, a small island community on the Gulf of Mexico. I run a 16 foot flats skiff in the backcountry and bay waters from Tampa Bay south about 35-40 miles. The water here is usually very clear, so sight-fishing can be a ve y exciting opportunity while in pursuit of big snook, redfish, trout, or cobia. I fish strictly with artificial lures using light tackle spinning, baitcasting, and fly rods. LET'S GO FISHING!!! (941)723-2655)is the phone number!
